As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth. Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”.
As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody if I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”.
As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it “MATURITY”.
As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm. Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”.
As I began to love myself I quit stealing my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY
As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.
As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.
As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worrying about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where everything is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.
As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me and it can make me sick. But as I connected it to my heart, my mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this connection “WISDOM OF THE HEART”.
We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born. Today I know “THAT IS LIFE”!
Shifting out of our Default Patterns of Survival
Thousands of years ago we relied upon our ability to react in a certain way when we felt threatened.
Now, that system of survival is becoming our downfall.
Our Default Protective System of Survival
In order that we survive we had to learn ways of coping in our environment. This mechanism, once switched on, has been running our human program for thousands of years.
We have become locked into the mentality and consciousness of survival - at any cost. Our default settings are based on suspicion, greed, mistrust, defeating, competing, relying, distracting, defending (.... and so the list goes on ...) behaviors.
In order for humanity to step into the ability to THRIVE, we need to reassess and reprogram these default settings that have, for too long, been running our human system.
As we journey through this Life we accumulate more than we need in all the ways we connect and sometimes collide with one another. Finding a way to release is essential so that we hold our Being with more regard and respect.

The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
I love this poem.
We are reminded that in everything there is an opportunity, even when it seems that the one knocking on our door is a less than adored guest.
Imagine if, from today, we begin to view the challenges that we encounter as nudges that are here to help us to Awaken and become more conscious.
That will require us to drop judgment and criticism, leap out of the mindset of persecution and retaliation and step into acceptance and willingness.
WoW! that is a lot that can come from just opening the door to our Heart.

Our 5 Brainwaves
Five forms of brainwaves have been identified to this point.
Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta and Gamma.
Beta: (13-40 Hz)
Normal waking conditions
Alpha: (7-13 Hz)
State of relaxation
Delta: (less than 4 Hz)
State of deep sleep and unconsciousness
Gamma: (above 40 Hz)
State of hyper-alterness - time seems to slow down in highly charged or stress-filled situations
We are going to chat about Theta brainwaves which are measured at 4-7 Hz and is the relaxed state of mind between Alpha brainwaves and the unconscious state of Delta brainwaves.
A Moment of Magic
It seems that Theta brainwaves gift us with a moment of magic between our conscious world and our subconscious world. It is in this magical gap that we can change old embedded thought patterns that no longer serve us.
Children have high levels of Theta brainwaves and are less stressed and more honest than most adults. They are able to learn more quickly as a result of this. And, interestingly enough artists and inventors also have high Theta brainwaves.
The wonderful aspect of our brain is that we can train our mind to produce more Theta brainwaves and so improve our memory, our ability to focus as well as develop our intuition.
Are we doomed to replay the family misery generation after generation?
The most amazing aspect of training our brain is that we can find a way to connect with our subconscious mind so that we can become more mindful and creative in our thinking and living.
Why would we want to do this?
Simple - Dr Bruce Lipton in his many talks has outlined the brilliant advantages of changing our embedded thought patterns.
It is like a broken record that just keeps sticking
Old patterns and programs become embedded in the subconscious brain and if we are not mindful of our inner thoughts we automatically flip into one of these programs without even realizing it. Suddenly we are swamped with a sense of doom or foreboding, anger or fear, heartache or resentment. Worst of all, if we are distracted by our everyday commitments and obligations we become totally focused through our conscious mind and then just allow the inner mind (subconscious mind) to dance around all the patterns of pain that our families have developed over eons of time.
...And in comes the Saboteur
The effect of this is that we find ourselves sabotaging our best intentions. Try as we might to affirm, intend and change our situation we often find ourselves not succeeding and falling into family patterns of lack, ineptitude, disappointment, disillusionment ... and the list goes on.
What can we do to change these old programs?
The science of Mindfulness has shown us that we can indeed change these programs and with that we can begin to show up in this life in a more aligned and fulfilling way.
All we need to do is change the programs embedded in our subconscious.

95% of the day our behaviour is controlled by subconscious thoughts.
Psychologists tell us that at least 70% of these thoughts are negative and unhelpful to us.
What can I do to help clear old programs?
We spend a great deal of time at our computers and this is a great time when we can become absorbed in thought that distracts us away from more mindful pursuits. Thus leaving the door wide open for the subconscious mind to leap into the old programs and dredge up negative and depleting thoughts and feelings.

I recorded uplifting messages with Theta background music and I place this on my desktop as an icon. Then each time I come to work on my computer I put on the recording at a very low, only just barely audible volume to create a subliminal message to my subconscious mind. In all the ways we "beat ourselves up" we are signalling to this beautiful being that it is okay to be dismissed, rejected, mistrusted ..... (and so the list goes on).
It is lack of compassion for our own being that is begging for us to rethink and rewire our way of being with our Self.
Imagine if we could take a little break in each day and gentle give our Self a bit of gentle kindness.
What would this look like?
Register or acknowledge that you are aching or in pain.
Step out of the busyness for a moment by placing your hands upon your heart and connecting with your Heart. Feel the warmth and let your mind and body agree that this is LOVE
Quieten the mind by focusing on the gently breathing and becoming aware of the difference felt with the IN breath and then the OUT breath.
Let your voice murmur these words so that your hands can feel the reverberation -
"Right now I am feeling ......." (Becoming Mindful)
"Suffering and pain is what we all know at some time". (I am not alone in this suffering)
"I value me and I send my Heart LOVE" (Opening our energy to receiving Love and Kindness)
"I give to me COMPASSION" (sets your intention to be self-compassionate and value self)
"Is there Life before Death?"
Sometimes the canvas that we intend to paint in our Life becomes a new painting. We might rage and storm because we feel like we have become de-railed and nothing seems to make any sense at all.
My Friend, Irene has an incredible story to tell.
Her life turned upside down when she became paralyzed through a medical procedure. The medical world waited for her to die and then told her she would never walk again.
The decisions we make in the moments of great adversity determine the steps to come in our Life Journey.
We CAN choose Life, even when ever bit of evidence says it is IMPOSSIBLE.
Live for the Moments to discover your Courage and Be your FAITH.
